Who We Are

Jade represents good luck and longevity in many cultures. JoinJade is a collective impact campaign to end hepatitis B stigma and save lives. The campaign was founded in 2001 Asian Liver Center at Stanford University School of Medicine. 

Starting 2019, JOINJADE We Care campaign is pushing forward a new initiative that is dedicated to the Vietnamese American community residing in proximity to San Jose’s Vietnam Town. By establishing partnership with various Vietnamese/ Vietnamese-American owned vendors, JoinJade WeCare sets out to inform the community of fundamental hepatitis B facts, as well as encourage the community to seek testing and feel motivated to spread awareness to others.

“We Care”, but why should you?

  • California has the highest count of individuals with chronic hepatitis B and hepatitis B-related liver diseases in the U.S. 
  • 1 in 8 individuals of Vietnamese heritage have hepatitis B, but many do not even know that they have it.
  • 1 in 4 individuals with chronic hepatitis B die prematurely without diagnosis and routine monitoring. This is preventable.
  • Hepatitis B is not spread through food, water, and casual contact. This stigma must end.

What can your business do to make an impact?

JOINJADE is a collaborative effort between business partners and the Asian Liver Center (ALC). By putting the campaign’s promotional material on display (posters, brochures, etc.), you will be reaching out to many people in the at-risk population. Your participation contributes to raising awareness and ending stigma revolving around Hepatitis B. 

ALC will acknowledge partners’ participation on our public service announcements on local media outlets and social media, as well as our year-end report that is sent to hundreds of ALC donors.

Your partnership is invaluable to the JoinJade campaign. You can select one of three levels of participation for your business, which is detailed in our Brochure, and summarized as follows.
